Prescriptions

Prescriptions are available from this practice.

You may obtain Prescription Only Medicines – Veterinary (POM-V) directly from your veterinary surgeon here, or you may ask for a written prescription and obtain these medicines from another veterinary surgeon or a pharmacy.

• Your veterinary surgeon may only prescribe medicines for animals under their care – this means that we have to examine your animal before we can provide prescription-only medication or written prescriptions.
• A prescription may not be appropriate if your animal requires immediate treatment or is an in-patient.

You will be informed, on request, of the price of any medicine that may be dispensed for your animal. Further information on the prices of medicines is available on request.

The general policy of this practice is to re-assess an animal requiring repeat prescriptions every 6 months, but this may vary with individual circumstances. The standard charge for this examination is £40.

Additional Notes

• Prescriptions are generally valid for 6 months unless otherwise specified by the veterinary surgeon.
• Please be aware that some insurance companies will not accept claims for medication purchased from online pharmacies.
